  • In 2015, Garland was labeled the 8th “Best Run City in America”. Move.org rated Garland as the “8th best city in America to raise a family”.

  • In 2018, Garland will have the “5th highest employment growth in the country”.

As the fifth largest city in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex, one of the fastest growing regions in the country, Garland is home to more than 236,000 residents and the DFW Metroplex is home to over 7,400,000 people. By 2050, the number of residents is projected to almost double. By aggressively seeking to attract new residents into the community, the city plans to increase its residential market share significantly above original forecasts. Light Rail (DART)

Downtown Garland DART Rail Station

Garland has two light rail stations linking residents and employees with the region. Located in the heart of two of Garland’s largest employment centers, the Forest/Jupiter and Downtown Light Rail Stations serve more than 3,000 riders each weekday. The City continues to encourage higher intensity residential, retail and employment uses adjacent to the stations for its near and long term economic growth.
